My mom has a similar problem with her name - it's not an uncommon name in Latin America or, say, Spain, but it's not really an "American" name, and people are constantly looking at it and adding syllables or removing syllables. It's really not that difficult of a name, but something about it just messes people up all the time! Thankfully, most people have gotten used to the spelling "Sean" now, so I don't get people mispronouncing it, but I still get a lot of people misspelling it, so I'm in the habit of saying, "My name is Sean; that's S-E-A-N." It's only a minor inconvenience, but those sorts of things can really grate after a while! :)
