8. Bycatch

if my mouth could
form words
like my fingers

if my heart could
hold strength
like my hands

we lingered in this spot
each of us considering but
no lips move
no breath forms

we will find them too late
amongst our
scattered thoughts
i will write them

you will push them down
i will hide my papers
we will never know of
the thoughts we share

but we will know the feeling

I like the sense of not-quite-communicating here, of the awkwardness between two people who both perhaps want something more but have only almost discovered that.
