Life divides into before and after you tell someone. And ...gosh...there is part of you that wants to let the kids keep playing, staying that happy. Because their world will never be the same.
Before the ending, I noticed you "gender flipped." The woman was the hunter and the dad was the cook. I like that :) Of course, any gender can do either!
I also wondered if the butter would somehow become the burn cream. I was glad they still get their treat.
But wow, the irony. Because, with grief, all food can lose any flavor.
This is very well-written. Poor kids. Poor Arnold!
